Trip Overview

Our NuCanoe Texas River trip through the beautiful Hill Country was an unforgettable adventure that highlighted the versatility of the U10 and Flint models. We kicked things off at Lady Bird Lake in Austin, where we enjoyed fishing and exploring the tranquil waters with the U10’s easy maneuverability. As we navigated the currents of the Guadalupe River, the Flint excelled in shallow water, making for an exciting fishing experience. The San Marcos River brought thrilling rapids, while the Lower Colorado offered a relaxing float with family. We wrapped up our journey on the Comal River, capturing our final media shots. Overall, the trip was filled with memorable moments, great catches, and a deeper appreciation for Texas’s stunning landscapes, all enhanced by the performance of our NuCanoe kayaks.

Lady Bird Lake

The first stop on our Texas River Shoot was Lady Bird Lake in Austin, a perfect launchpad for our adventure. Surrounded by the vibrant urban skyline, the backdrop created a stunning contrast against the tranquil waters. We were thrilled to hook several bass, with Ray landing an impressive 7-pounder that stole the show. The NuCanoe U10 proved to be the ideal vessel for this outing, easily launched from the back of our pick-up truck while offering unmatched stability and rigging options. This allowed us to seamlessly navigate the lake, chasing after fish and soaking in the picturesque scenery, setting the tone for an unforgettable  trip.

Guadalupe River

The second location of our photoshoot for NuCanoe turned out to be a fantastic experience, perfectly complementing our Texas road trip. We utilized both the Flint and U10 model kayaks, but the Flint truly shone in the skinny water and riffles, maneuvering effortlessly through the currents. The fishing was productive, with Brian and Guillermo landing some impressive bass that added an exciting touch to the day. Overall, it was a fun and rewarding outing, with both kayaks performing excellently, showcasing their capabilities in a beautiful setting.

San Marcos River

Our third location for the NuCanoe Texas river photoshoot was the San Marcos River, showcasing the natural beauty of the Texas Hill Country. We motored and dragged upstream, fishing along the way and catching vibrant Guadalupe bass. The highlight was navigating the rapids and drops we encountered, which added an exhilarating element to the shoot. We also took a moment to enjoy a nearby rope swing, adding some lighthearted fun. Both models worked well, but the Flint excelled in the shallow waters, demonstrating its capability and versatility in this stunning environment.

Lower Colorado (LoCo)

On the fourth day of our NuCanoe Texas river shoot, we made our way to the Lower Colorado River, or the LoCo River, which was a refreshing change from the swift, skinny waters we’d been navigating all week. Ray brought his family along, and we had a blast floating down the river, casting lines for bass while trying to beat the summer heat. We managed to reel in a handful of nice fish, but the real highlight was the U10. Its ability to maneuver smoothly allowed us to position our baits exactly where we needed them, making the experience even more enjoyable. Overall, it was a perfect blend of relaxation and fishing, creating great memories on the water.

Comal River

On the final day of our Texas river photo shoot, we spent a short but memorable time on the Comal River. With just a single U10 and Flint, we maneuvered around the launch, enjoying the thrill of the foot steering, which made the sharp turns even more exciting, especially paired with the Newport Vessels NK-180. This quick outing allowed us to capture the last pieces of media we needed to round out our project. After wrapping up, it was time to pack up and head to TG Canoe before making our way to the airport, reflecting on an incredible week filled with adventure and great memories.
