“Popping” & “Skipping” Solutions

Popping, skipping, or loss of power is caused when the Drive Cable is not fully inserted into the receiver.  The more this happens, the more the opportunity for damage to the Drive Cable or Receiver.

Follow these steps for adjusting the overall housing length on the Drive Cable Assembly.  This will enable an optimal length of the Drive Cable to be exposed on both ends.

Troubleshooting steps:  See Video for Walk Through.

  1. Ensure the Pedal Tower is not too far forward, and that there is some slack in the drive cable.
  2. Ensure the black flexible housing is tight up to the prop shaft, there should be no gap.  If not, loosen screws, push it back as far as possible, then re-tighten.
  3. Loosen the screws on the coupler between the black flex housing and aluminum tube.  Slide black housing in about 1/8-1/4” further, but ensuring the white PTFE does not extend beyond the other end of the aluminum tube.
  4. Remove the black housing and measure.  Cut down to below length using a dremel tool or similar.
    • F10 – 52-9/16″
    • Flint – 76-3/4″
    • Frontier 12 – 68-9/16″
    • Pursuit – 80-9/16″

If the steps above do not resolve the problems, your PIVOT Drive Prop Shaft and Drive Cable Assembly will need to be returned to NuCanoe for repair.  Use the below form to initiate this process.
